Terms of use
Items marked [to be completed] will be filled in before the public launch.
Purpose
These terms govern the use of the TrueTake website and app, published by [to be completed]. Using the service means accepting them.
The service
TrueTake lets two phones produce a live video capture proof together: one phone shows signed QR codes, the other films them. The server validates each segment, signs a certificate and anchors it in a public ledger. Anyone can verify a proof with the online verifier.
The service is offered free of charge as a beta, without an account. Its features may change.
What a proof establishes
A TrueTake proof establishes that a video was captured during the loop, in order, that it has not changed since it was signed and that the certificate existed at the anchoring date.
It does not establish that the filmed scene is true, who the people are, or an exact position. Its legal weight depends on the context and on the judgement of those who examine it.
Acceptable use
- Film in compliance with the law, privacy and the image rights of the people present.
- Do not use TrueTake to harass, monitor or entrap anyone.
- Do not try to bypass the checks, overload the service or exploit a flaw: report it to the contact address instead.
- Do not present a TrueTake proof as guaranteeing more than it establishes.
Availability
The service is provided as is, with no availability commitment during the beta. An interrupted capture produces no proof; simply start a new one.
Liability
You are responsible for the videos you film and how you use them. To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for the use made of a proof or for an interruption of the service.
Ownership
You keep the rights to your videos. You grant the publisher the right to process them only to provide the service (validation, assembly, certification, sharing at your request), for the retention period.
Personal data
See the privacy policy.
Governing law
